Hook-ups, Break-ups and Everything In Between

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

In my last blog, I was waiting with baited breath to hear my crush’s response to my confession that I had feelings for him that were more than friendly. He emailed me back the next morning at 8:20 AM. I knew it was not going to be pretty. It wasn’t, he informed me that he had zero desire for a relationship with anyone, other than friendship and that he doesn’t see himself “coupling” with anyone. Although, he absolutely dotes on his nephew and has frequently expressed admiration for his sister’s marriage. I was hurt and devastaed, but he has acted completely normal around me and we have resumed a friendship of sorts and I am beginning to be able to see that Oh yes, the man is not “Prince Charming,” in fact, he’s a little bit froggy

The 70-Year-Old Virgin

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

It wasn’t a lack of offers in the case of Pam Shaw, the 70-year-old woman from the UK who says she’s finally ready to lose her virginity and get married . The cabaret dancer wanted to abstain until marriage, but after decades of repression perhaps she concluded that time was no longer on her side. Pam states, “I feel I am ready to give marriage a go and maybe go to bed with a man.

North Carolina Bans Same-Sex Marriage: A Closer Look

Friday, May 11th, 2012

Homosexuals are so evil that they just had to do it again . This time, it was a constitutional amendment denying same-sex couples the right to obtain a marriage license, thus denying them benefits that opposite-sex couples benefit from. It was a strategic move to ensure that the already illegal same-sex marriages would be safe from an overturn by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals much like what happened in California with Proposition 8.

Should I Confront Him or Just Observe?

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

This was submitted anonymously by a Datingish reader. I just entered a long distance relationship–I live in FL and he lives in NY. I’m having doubts about it working out because I have trust issues from my past from being cheated on during a six-year marriage.

Fairy Tales and Picking Partners

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

I grew up on Disney. I’ll still watch the old movies when I’m sick or feeling down and visit Disneyland at least once a month. I was many princesses for Halloween growing up. I remember being very taken with the whole damsel in distress thing, getting excited whenever the leading girl was in trouble and the main male character would overcome all sorts of ridiculous obstacles to save her. I’ll be damned if any of that doesn’t have some small impact on my dating life. I do often envision myself taking care of a man in the homely, matronly way that’s often depicted in the Disney movies just as I often envision a strong, protective, tender, hard-working man taking care of me.

The great awakening

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

It began 9 years ago today. I call it “The Great Awakening.” Two days earlier we’d returned from a romantic week in a favorite city. We held hands walking in the rain-cleansed park, enjoyed restaurant meals and sight-seeing together, had laughs with friends, and had passionate nights. He was intermittently moody during the vacation, sometimes walking 20 paces ahead or behind me saying he needed some solitude.

The Popularity of Marriage

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

There were a couple articles I came across recently that talked about the dwindling popularity of marriage and the inevitable increase of babies being born outside a marriage. According to Time , one out of four babies are born to unwed parents, which has nearly doubled in the last decade. More couples are opting to live together in mutual commitment as opposed to tying the knot with all those legalities. More Here…
